Time and Tide
(Sold) My kids don't have a grandma but if they had ,I know she'd fall asleep on beaches to scorn the undertow. She'd dress as the Easter Bunny and scare them at the door. She'd knit them clothes that never fit to show she loved them more. She'd give them cash for presents and books in foreign tongues. She'd baby sit when we're still home and sing with all her lungs. She'd bake them cakes with sherry and smoke a small cigar, the uselessness of algebra she'd teach them in the car. She'd find a cure for cancer stop Aunt Mary passing gas, she'd join the two Koreas and keep candies in a vase. She'd put the kids through college, think I'm as handsome as can be love them with the fiercest love and dream she's on t.v. My kids don't have a grandma and maybe that's ok. She just might never measure up so instead I'll dream away. |
